Converts a result earned in another currency into yours, splitting trade gain from FX effect. Use it when trading foreign instruments.

When you trade an instrument priced in a currency other than your own, you are running two exposures at once whether you intended to or not. There is the trade itself, and there is the currency it settles in. A profitable trade in a weakening currency can arrive in your account smaller than expected, and a losing trade in a strengthening one can land softer. This card pulls the two apart so you can see which is which.

The FX effect row is the part attributable purely to the exchange rate, measured against a rate of one. If it is a meaningful fraction of the total, the currency is doing real work in your results, and it is worth asking whether that is a risk you want. Over a series of trades an unnoticed currency drift can turn a modestly profitable strategy into a flat one, or flatter one into a winner, and neither outcome has anything to do with your trading.

The rate to use is the one at the moment you are measuring, not the one at entry. If you are converting a closed result, use the rate on the day it settled. If you are estimating an open position, use the current rate and remember the figure moves until you close. For a position held over weeks, the difference between entry and exit rates can easily exceed the profit on the trade itself.

This card is display only. The app never converts your imported figures behind your back, and nothing typed here is stored against your record. It takes the rate you provide and shows the arithmetic, so it is a tool for understanding a result rather than a source of one. If you regularly trade in several currencies, the more robust habit is to keep your journal in your account currency and convert on the day of each fill.
